SD-WAN refers to the combination of SD and WAN technologies. The concept of SD-WAN was first conceived by Cisco in 2020, and today it is the most widely used internet infrastructure software for corporate networks.

The SD-WAN uses an Ethernet based network architecture to deliver connectivity between networks, and vice versa. Basically the difference between WAN and LAN is that while a LAN is usually a series of data packets that are sent over a common medium like a telephone line, the WAN is actually an ethernet network that can be expanded with additional devices that provide connectivity and functionality. There are different types of SD-WAN systems including WAN to WAN, WAN to Host, WAN to Device, WAN to Link, WAN to Local Area Network, WAN to VPN, and WAN to PPP.

A third type of SD-WAN is known as the public-domain one. In this mode, multiple servers can connect to the public LAN through the IP protocol and no user accesses the LAN.

The static network is a dynamic network that is used to connect computer systems from different geographical locations in a region. Static network also allows users to change their internet connection at any time.

The static network also ensures that the transmission of traffic is not interfered with by physical devices like switches and routers. However, when it comes to its use in remote networks, SD-WAN is the best way to communicate with computers that may be located in different continents.

The public-domain network is used to provide better coverage to certain geographical areas. It does not limit users to only those within a particular region but also allows access to non-users of a particular region.

With public-domain network, the users can choose between two types of connection; namely WAN and SPAN, which are the same as LAN. Both these types of connections share the same address system; however, SPAN is designed to offer better services.

It allows the clients to obtain a pair of IP addresses instead of one; it provides higher speed and portability. SPAN also provides the opportunity to provide high-speed and reliable service for several areas of a country.
